Frequently Asked Questions

Below are answers to common questions about working together.

  • I am accepting new clients for Intensive EMDR/IFS work starting in May 2025 & the Safe & Sound Protocol in March 2025.

Due to my teaching & consulting schedule, my capacity for weekly hour-long sessions is limited & that waitlist is closed at this time.

In order to help meet the current demand for more experiential Trauma therapies, I offer focused EMDR/IFS/Polyvagal work & am no longer taking on new clients for long-term talk/support therapy.

  • Yes! I truly enjoy offering adjunct EMDR, IFS, and Safe & Sound work to individuals who are already in a long-term therapeutic relationship with another therapist. In these cases, I aim to collaborate closely with your primary therapist (with your consent) to develop and align with your treatment goals.

EMDR in an intensive format is especially well-suited for adjunct work, allowing you to benefit from focused sessions without the need for additional weekly appointments.

This adjunct work is designed to complement and enhance the progress you’re already making in your long-term therapy, rather than replacing or interrupting it. It provides targeted support to enrich and accelerate the healing process.

If you think this collaborative approach might be helpful to you or your clients, please reach out to discuss how we can work together to support you.

  • My hourly rate for intensive work is $225.

Packages for retreat-style intensive work begin at $1800 and are customized based on your needs.

Packages for the Safe & Sound Protocol begin at $350.

  • I recognize that trauma therapy can be a significant financial investment. Several factors influence my current rates:

    1. Specialized Experience: I have extensive experience working with complex PTSD and dissociative disorders, which informs the quality of care I provide.

    2. Ongoing Training: I invest in advanced training and consultation to maintain expertise & certification in evidence-based & life-changing trauma treatment modalities, including EMDR, the Safe & Sound Protocol, and IFS-informed EMDR. This advanced training also has allowed me to develop an approach that works with trauma in an efficient & effective manner so that you don't have to be in therapy for the rest of your life.

    3. Sustainable Practice: A healthy and regulated nervous system is essential for effectively working with complex trauma. To ensure I am present and regulated for my clients, I maintain a smaller caseload, allowing me to provide the best possible support.

    4. Sliding Scale Support: By setting slightly higher fees for clients who have fewer financial constraints, I can support victims of violent crime and offer reduced fee spots for those who might otherwise be unable to access therapy.

Thank you for understanding the factors behind my rates and the commitment I have to providing quality care.

  • As my practice is now primarily focused on therapy intensives, I made the decision to become an Out-of-Network provider. This allows me to offer more flexibility in scheduling and service duration, as traditional insurance contracts typically limit coverage to just 1 hour of therapy per day.

Many clients have been pleasantly surprised to learn that their out-of-network benefits can cover a portion of the entire cost of the intensive, rather than just the standard 1-hour session.

If you have out-of-network benefits, I’m happy to guide you on the questions to ask your insurance company to clarify your coverage. Additionally, I can provide you with monthly super-bills for you to submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement.

For Massachusetts residents, I will remain in-network with certain Point32 Plans until July 2025. I am also an approved provider for Victim’s Compensation.

  • Yes, I offer a short-term sliding scale program of up to 12 hours for clients who may not otherwise be able to access or afford Intensive EMDR/IFS.

Please note my sliding scale spots are currently full & I have a waitlist. For those seeking more options, Openpath is a great resource for finding sliding scale providers.

To determine sliding scale rates, I use the Green Bottle Method, which helps ensure a fair and personalized approach.

Additionally, I partner with the Office of Victims of Crime to provide reduced fee therapy services for clients receiving Victim's Compensation.

  • If you do not show up for your scheduled therapy appointment, and you have not notified me within the appropriate timeframe for the service (as noted below), or if you cancel your appointment without giving me adequate notice (see below), you will be required to pay $150/hour booked.

    I require 48-hour notice for 60-minute appointments.

I require 7-day notice for half-day EMDR Intensives.

  • In Summer 2024, my business and family relocated from New Jersey to Bangor, Maine. I’m anticipating opening an office by the Summer of 2025 for in-person work in Bangor.

If you’re interested in in-person intensive work, please feel free to reach out.

  • Yes, absolutely! In fact, many of my clients prefer telehealth for its flexibility and convenience, as it eliminates the need for commuting to weekly appointments. I use a specialized EMDR telehealth platform called Bilateral Base, which integrates both visual and audio bilateral stimulation directly into the virtual experience.

Additionally, I teach self-tapping techniques and, when appropriate, can recommend where to purchase tappers for tactile stimulation. This way, you can fully engage in the EMDR process from the comfort of your own space.

  • Getting Past Your Past by Francine Shapiro is a great book written specifically for clients wanting to learn more about EMDR. I’d also highly recommend Kambria Evan’s Why EMDR Works Podcast Series to understand how EMDR can be helpful for different needs.

Here are some links for EMDR FAQs & an overview of research about EMDR.

In addition, as we’re engaging in the preparation stage of EMDR, I’ll offer psycho-education and answer any questions you have about the process.

  • Feel free to reach out to schedule a complimentary 15-minute consultation call. This is a great opportunity for me to understand what support you’re seeking, for you to ask any lingering questions, and for us to explore whether Intensive EMDR, IFS therapy, or the Safe & Sound Protocol work together might be the right fit for you. I look forward to connecting with you and discussing how I can support your journey.
